Dean Rusk
President James Robinson accompanies former U.S. Secretary of State Dean Rusk who was the speaker at UWF’s June 14, 1980 commencement. Rusk served as Secretary of State under the Kennedy and Johnson administrations and was President of the Rockefeller Foundation from 1952-1960. Accompanying them is William Maloy of Pensacola, a member of the Board of Regents. Dean Rusk was awarded a UWF Honorary Doctor of Laws degree. |

The Summer 1982 UWF Playwright’s Repertory Festival featured three plays of Edward Albee: Seascape, A Delicate Balance, and Tiny Alice. During the festival, Albee (a three-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize) came to UWF to discuss his work and plays, and Broadway which he called “the theatre of the absurd.” |
